Am I bothered?

Owning up to feeling bothered or stressed is a big step when everyone else appears so chilled about things.  But appearances can be deceptive – yours most of all.

Perhaps your friends and family think you’re okay, the last thing you are going to do is let on!  Inside though, it may be very different, with stress having an impact on how you feel and behave with those around you.  Your schoolwork may suffer, friends become concerned or stay away, and you may start to act in unhelpful and destructive ways.

Top stressors include:

  • school
  • other family members
  • how we look
  • what others think about us
  • pressure from our friends

Some activities can help us when we feel stressed, such as:

  • playing a sport
  • listening to music
  • playing a computer game

But sometimes they don’t help, while speaking to a friend or someone in your family or at school always does!

You can also talk to us in confidence about anything that’s concerning you, whether it’s worrying about relationships, your fears or phobias, bullying, losing friends, parents and other family members, your health or sexual matters.
